Nicolet students excel at state business competition, head to nationals |

“The conference culminates a school year's worth of business workforce education and training for these students,” chapter advisors and Nicolet instructors Jolene Johnson-Van Den Elzen and Joel DeNamur said in a joint statement. “Obviously, we are very proud of their accomplishments.” At the state competition the students participated in a variety of business skills competitions and attended workshops and professional sessions. Fishbeck, Mathews, and Stone were the top Nicolet finishers at state and now head to the national BPA Leadership Conference in Reno , Nevada , in May. At the state competition in Madison Stone was also elected to the State Officer Team, a first for a Nicolet student. Business Professionals of America is a national organization for college, high school and middle school students preparing for careers in business and information technology. The organization's activities and programs complement classroom instruction by giving students practical experience through application of the skills learned at school. BPA contributes to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic, and technological skills. The organization is assisted in this endeavor with financial support from corporations and companies including Shell, and South-Western/Cengage who sponsor BPA's National Leadership Conference, and member career building programs and scholarships. |
