Nicolet offers Lunch & Learn
professional development workshops


Nicolet College is offering a series of lunch-time professional development workshops designed to increase efficiency and effectiveness in the workplace.

“Finding the time for employees to take professional development classes is a challenge for a lot of companies,” said Debbie Jones, business and community education coordinator at Nicolet. “The Lunch and Learn series gives employees the chance to upgrade their skills in a relatively quick timeframe and still tend to daily duties in the workplace.”

All workshops include lunch and will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Cost is $29 for each session. All will meet at the Northern Advantage Job Center in downtown Rhinelander.

Upcoming offerings include:

- 5S, Wednesday, Feb. 27. 5S is a system of steps used to organize a work area to optimize performance, comfort, safety and cleanliness.

- Generations: M.E.E.T. for Respect in the Workplace, Friday, Feb. 29. Workers from four generations are now active in the workforce. This workshop will give employees and manager the insights and strategies necessary to minimize generational conflict and strengthen collaboration.

- Lean Tools, Wednesday, March 26. Lean uses a number of simple, common sense data gathering and problem solving skills to increase efficiency.

- Break the Bad Attitude Habit – Keys to Overcoming Workplace Negativity, Friday, April 4. The costs of workplace negativity are enormous in terms of lost production, quality problems, employee turnover and decreased morale. Learn the reasons behind workplace negativity and discover ways to stop its spread in your department or team.

- Change, Wednesday, April 30. Learn how people react to change and how to help them let go of the old and move into the new.
